Best Friends Poems
Few things capture the hearts of people as much as songs and poems of
love and friendship. Life can be a long, painful and difficult journey.
No one likes to travel the road of life along. Often times we find
ourselves struggling to put into words just how much our friends mean to
us. Over the years there have been many best friends’ poems that have
sought to capture the feelings that warm our hearts in regard to our
closest friends.
One of the wonders of friendship that is often
expressed in best friends’ poems is the sheer wonder of having someone
that is on our side, no matter what we might be going through. Our lives
can be like waves of the ocean; many times we are overwhelmed by
circumstances, doubts and fears. At times like these we get a new
appreciation for the gift of having a best friend. Consider these
opening words from a poem titled Friendship by Trudy Starling: “When
you feel sad and betrayed
Who can you count on every single day?
When you feel lost and alone
Who will be there for you in every way?
When you've made mistakes and bad decisions
Who can you count on to tell you you're wrong?
When you feel you can't go on
Who will be there with a feel-better song?”
In her poem, Trudy captures feelings that many poets have expressed over
the years in several best friends poems. Sadness, depression and sorrow
can be harsh realities that affect all of us. It is easy to feel like we
have lost our way; that there is no one to turn to during out times of
desperation. These are the moments when we remember our best friend;
when we know that there is someone who loves us and will help to see us
through the difficulties of life.
What greater gift is there in life
than to know that we have best friends to comfort us and to be with us
through the good times and the bad times? While we struggle with the
words to describe the richness of these relationships in best friends
poems, it does our heart a world of good to put these feelings down in
words. Best friends poems can be our best efforts to let the world know
just how many our friends really mean to us. Trudy Starling furthers
these thoughts in the poem Friendship:
“When you're looking for answers
To all your questions and dreams,
There is one person you can count on,
It's impossible, I know, it seems.”
Trudy beautifully captures the thoughts that are expressed in many best
friends poems. She tells us that no matter what, when life seems grim
and that all hope is lost, we should never forget that our best friends
are there for us. That they will help us to get through whatever life
brings our way. Truly, of all the beautiful poems written throughout
history, best friends poems are some of the most touching.
